Lead in blood is not a new issue for residents & workers in and around Port Pirie.

The Solution

The good news is that high blood lead levels in children is reversible. How?

Our Goal

At least 95% of children 0-4 years, in the Port Pirie community, with a blood lead level of less than 10µg/dL by the end of 2010.

In response to a question in the State Parliament on October 30, 2008, the South Australian Health Minister, John Hill, announced that the results of blood screening in children under five in Port Pirie for the first half of this year show a continued improvement.
